WIPs Be Gone

1/1/2018
It's the Year of WIP again because I've only made a small dent in 3 years.   As before  I'll be hosting a linky party most Fridays for your WIP projects, either a blog post or additions to your photostream. If you have neither you can also tell me about your WIP progress in a comment.  Be sure you're not "no reply" on Blogger, so I can answer back.  I hope you will share with me and the other readers. It's so much fun to see what you're bringing to life. Who knows I may even have a giveaway now and then.

1/15/2017   In 2015 I was able to finish 8 WIPs - more than I expected [you can see them below], but many remain.  In 2016, I was able, after a late start (because of that broken leg), to finish 19! I also made and sent on to St. Anne's 11 baby quilt tops, and put together 3 for myself.  I feel I did great compared to 2015, however many remain to be completed. So it's the Year of WIP again.   As before  I'll be hosting a linky party most Fridays for your WIP projects, either a blog post or additions to your photostream. If you have neither you can also tell me about your WIP progress in a comment.  Be sure you're not no reply on Blogger so I can answer back.  I hope you will share with me and the other readers. It's so much fun to see what you're bringing to life. Who knows I may even have a giveaway now and then.

I made a button.  If you'd like to put it on your blog as a reminder to come by on Fridays, that would be so nice.  You'll find in on my sidebar in the blog.  Just copy the image to place on your sidebar if you want.

My first finish for 2017 (1/5) is a baby quilt top for St. Anne's. I count this as a finish as my part is done for St. Anne's tops as they go to another member for the next step. You can read about it here.

#2 finished 1/22/17 You can read about it here .

Torre's Wall Hanging (1/19)

St. Anne's Baby quilt (2/6)

Neonatal quilt - 30 1/2" square NI #1.  (2/26)

Neonatal quilt - 30 1/2" square  NI#2 (3/26)

And my first finish (WIP #1) for 2016:

You can read about WIP #1 here.  Yes, I did carry over 10 old WIPs that I hope to polish off this year. I'm finding assembling blocks using leaders and enders is speeding up their completion.  You can read about it at that previous "here" three sentences ago.

4/7/16  Wip # 4
A preemie quilt (30"sq) FMQ'd for the local neonatal unit.

1/2/15
Hello, here we are at the start of a new year. Looking back on posts for 2014, I found more and more, quilting was interrupted by life's demands. Certainly, my mother's recent health issues were a wake up call. I need to spend more time with family and less on the computer. It can be such a pit of sedentary activity. So change is coming to this blog. I want to take this opportunity to thank every one who ever linked to Hexie Weekend. My plans were to work on hexies during the week and show them off on the weekend. More and more that didn't happen, and I kept finding other lovely bloggers who also had linky parties for hexies. So much eye candy there! I will still be doing hexies, but I'll be linking over at the more dedicated hexagon bloggers.

I still would like to see what you are doing. It is very inspiring and educational to see what quilters are creating. My goal for 2015 is to make it the Year of the WIP. I have so many - do you? So starting this week, Hexie Weekend has morphed to WIPs Be Gone. I'll be hosting a linky party each Friday for your WIP projects, either a blog post or additions to your photostream.

You'll find in on my right sidebar.

Lastly, I'll be listing my finished WIPs here.  Let's see how many I can do this year:

Jan 22, 2015
1.  WIP 2 [meaning as I listed them on my WIP list] (orphan block quilt) is now moved to the WTBQ pile.
I'm so pleased to have gotten it this far.  It measures 66 x 74.  Woohoo - one out of the WIP pile!

Feb 2, 2015
2.  WIP 1 is now a finish.  These were blocks from two BOMs I started but never finished - one from 2011 and one from 2014. Two more WIPs out!  That makes three so far.

Two wips in one! Measures 40" square.

March 1, 2015
WIP #4 is also a finish:  And now 4 are done - I've impressed myself.
WIP #3 is long term, so all I can say is I'm moving along slowly on those hexies.

April 15, 2015
WIP #8 was a quickly worked crocheted edge on fleece. For St. Anne's:

April 24, 2015
Another WIP done!  This one is #9.
I started this when our Darling Lily was 2 in the hopes of having it done when she got a youth bed. Well, that didn't happen. Now she has a twin bed and she's just turned 5 April 16th, and I finally finished it.

9/24/15
This has been a long time coming - it took me five months to get another finish.  WIP #7 is done - that makes 6 out of the WIP pile. This started as a block I tested for one of the 100 block issues from Quiltmaker.

November 21, 2015 - a mug rug started Oct, 2014 at our guild's annual retreat.  WIP #16 done.

WIP #14 was completed Dec 4, 2015 and gifted to DGS, Alan on the 6th.  He loves it:
This one took nine years - lol.

  3. Hi! I'm from Hexagon Alley and I just wanted to say "Thank You" for the invitation to the "WIP Be Gone". I'm not sure how it works. Is there a separate place to go to show my progress on my tiny hexagon project? I have a blog - do I post there and then link to you? Or Oh I'm not all that computer savy - as you will see if you check my blog! anyway, I like you wanted to dedicate 2015 to eliminating WIP's ....though I've not had success....my life is busy and I'm easily distracted by the next exciting thing....that's why I have so many WIP's!!! LOL!!! Anyway thanks!
